Welcome from Our Post Commander
"Serving Those Who Served — Together in Brotherhood and Community."
On behalf of the officers, members, and the entire American Legion, Herbert D. Gibb Post 259 Debary-Orange City Florida, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you.
Whether you are a veteran returning from duty, a military family seeking a supportive network, or a community member interested in learning more about our outreach programs, you have a home here in DeBary and Orange City.
Since our chartering in 1958, Post 259 has been anchored by a steadfast commitment to our nation’s veterans and our surrounding Volusia County community. Through the dedication of our Legionnaires, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion (SAL), and American Legion Riders (ALR), we work daily to carry out the core Four Pillars of The American Legion:
- Supporting Veterans & Their Families: Connecting local service members with benefits, rehabilitation resources, and emergency financial aid through programs like PROJECT: VetRelief.
- Investing in Youth & Civic Education: Sponsoring local students for Florida Boys State, hosting oratorical contests, and supporting local JROTC, Boy Scout, and sports initiatives.
- Fostering Patriotism: Championing flag etiquette and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
- Serving Volusia County: Supporting our local first responders and giving back through community events, fundraisers, and charitable partnerships.
If you are an honorably discharged veteran or currently serving on active duty, I invite you to join our post home at 470 Summerhaven Drive. Beyond our advocacy work, our Post offers genuine camaraderie, shared experiences, and a place where your military service continues to make a lasting difference.
Thank you for visiting our website, and thank you to all our service members and veterans for your dedicated service to our nation.
Warm regards & in comradeship,
Allen Foxworth
Commander, American Legion Post 259
